"Artists usually don't make all that much money, and they often keep their artistic hobby despite the money rather than due to it."

"A man practices the art of adventure when he breaks the chain of routine and renews his life through reading new books, traveling to new places, making new friends, taking up new hobbies and adopting new viewpoints."

Steve Martin says:

"When your hobbies get in the way of your work - that's OK; but when your hobbies get in the way of themselves... well..."

Dale Carnegie says:

"Today is life-the only life you are sure of. Make the most of today. Get interested in something. Shake yourself awake. Develop a hobby. Let the winds of enthusiasm sweep through you. Live today with gusto."

WIP: 1/100 MG Gundam 00 Raiser - Assembly

Here's my latest WIP, the MG 1/100 Gundam 00 Raiser from the Gundam 00 series. I admit, I'm already a year behind with this model. But my excitement is still up and let's just say I'm saving the best for last. This is actually one of my favorite Gundams and when Bandai released the MG version, I immediately looked for one. The best part - I got it at a cheaper price from a forum. For whatever reasons, I kept the 00 Gundam under my worktable...untouched.

Gundam Front Tokyo (Odaiba, Japan) - 1/1 Gundam Statue

The epic statue standing somewhere in Japan. If I will be given a chance to be there, I will:
- take a lot of photos (day, mid-day, afternoon, night...all day long),
- explore the shops selling limited-edition model kits (and probably hoard some),
- meet fellow hobbyists and see their masterpieces,
- meet the ladies in cosplay events and take pictures with them (in their Gundam costume no matter how ridiculous they pose...sometimes),
- get acquainted with a few Japanese beauties,
- explore the museum/gallery full of Gundam stuff,
- drop by the BAN-DAI headquarters somewhere, probably meet the awesome engineers
- look for a place where a lot of cherry blossom-trees grow.,(and maybe take a Geisha with me)
- have a fine-dining experience at some of their restaurants (with new friends)
- and maybe the list will go on...

Soon...

Gundam Age - 1 - Soon!

I've seen the new series called Gundam Age and by the looks of it, I think the design kinda looked childish (not to mention the car-spoiler-backpack). But I still like it. Especially when I got my hands on the first HG version of Gundam Age 1 Normal. It's got nice articulation defining another step forward for the High Grade line.

Recently I got my hands on the Master Grade version and based on the reviews, the construction was top-notch! I got curious and I wanted to start immediately. But being a good observer and spectator, I waited because I wanted to see how the masters would design their Gundam Age first (this is research).

I landed on the blog of the famous "Toymaker" and saw their Gundam Age group build. I got excited obviously and waited patiently. After a few weeks or so, the group build was over (and my research too) and I was simply amazed to see the results. But I focused on the Toymaker's design. Since he was "legendary", I might as well learn from the legend. He designed his Gundam Age-1 Zethus by using Gundam Age as the base kit and adding up some weapons from Strike Gundam.
I think that was easy...

So I'm all fired up. I will be starting the AGE project soon and I'll share my progress here.

Have a nice day!

Something to look forward to...Another Real Grade!

Watch out! We have a bad@$$ over here! After the release of the RG Gundam Mark II, the Real Grade series will be back on Gundam Seed Model Kits. The RG ZGMF-XO9A Justice Gundam is up and will be released sometime in July 2012. I personally like its upgraded version - Infinite Justice - but the Real Grade treatment will make the Justice Gundam another addition to my addiction.

So, what do you guys think? Will the structure/engineering of Justice Gundam be better than Freedom Gundam? I certainly hope so.

Have a nice day!

RG 1/144 Gundam Mk-II [Amuro Ray Custom] Modeled by zgmfxg

I am a big fan of the classic RX-78-2 Gundam. I just liked its simplicity and this model caught my attention. As you can see, it's not the original RX-78-2 Gundam but the recently released RG RX-178 or the Gundam Mark II - using RX-78-2's color scheme. It was modeled by "zgmfxg" and you can see more images here:

Hobby Ow Yeah! - Another Fresh Start

HobbyOwYeah has been slacking for quite sometime now...and I've got reasons.
Majority of those reasons came from my wedding. The preparations caused a lot of stress but the overall result was very cool. It was indeed one of the happiest and memorable events in my life.

So, back to my plastic modeling backlog - I have a lot of plastic models sitting under my worktable. Most of these were snap-fitted and waiting for some paint-job. I think the most important project that I won't finish on time will be my entry for the 2012 Mecha Contest. To my fellow hobbyists who joined the contest, congratulations. I had a great time watching your progress and I learned a lot. Hopefully there will be another Mecha Contest.

I remodeled this blog - HobbyOwYeah! - to start something new. Something fresh and cool (aside from being the coolest husband). I just decided to keep it slow and enjoy the hobby without too much pressure. This is a hobby after all. Maybe my wife will join me soon!

Meanwhile, I will have some upcoming projects to support my plastic modeling addiction!
- A Custom spraybooth
- New Airbrush (this will take a while)
- New set of Paint (I might hoard on Vallejo paints and throw away the toxicity of Tamiya acrylics)
- More military models!

Lastly, that picture above - the M1046 Humvee - was the first plastic model I worked on as a husband. Nothing to do here...except it was a Humvee.

Have a nice day!

More Real Grade Goodness!

I saw this news from the usual blog that I regularly visit. The Real Grade series surely brought me excitement as they announce the next model kits in line.

Previously, the Aile Strike Gundam from Gundam Seed was released and now BanDai will be releasing some more upgrades. The Striker Pack Weapons System plus the Sky Grasper will be released sometime in February 2012 at approximately 2600+ Yen.

Sword Strike... Launcher Strike.. Nice!

After the Gundam Seed model kits, BanDai will be back to the Universal Century timeline with the upcoming release of none other than the - RX-178 Gundam Mark II!!!

Too many Gundams...so little time..
